Fiesta Filipina: Philippine Festivals 2013

Filipinos are some of the happiest people in the world. Even Forbes.com agrees citing Filipinos as among the world’s friendliest people.

It’s no surprise that this is reflected through the many festivals or fiestas that we have in the country. In the Philippines there is a festival happening every other day, on a city, provincial, or national level.

Of course, tourists are most welcome to join in the fun and celebration. Below is a list of some of the more popular festivals in the country happening this year. Which one will you go to?

One Last Tour! Swedish House Mafia invade Manila

All roads led to SM Mall of Asia Arena last night for One Last Tour! Swedish House Mafia Live in Manila.

The Arena was jam-packed with throngs of fans. There was barely enough space in the standing VIP section  to move around in. Lower and upper boxes were also full, proving how extremely popular Swedish House Mafia is in the country.

As one of the event sponsors, Absolut Vodka concocted and sold a special cocktail called Absolut Greyhound named after one of the tracks by Swedish House Mafia.

I was quite disappointed because Steve Angello couldn't make it to the event because he was sick. Nevertheless the remaining two-thirds of the trio didn't disappoint with their energetic performance coupled with amazing graphics flashed on a huge background tv screen, and spectacular laser and pyrotechnics production.

The crowd danced, jumped, and sang to hits like "Don't You Worry Child," "I Wanna Know Your Name," and "Save The World."

Swedish House Mafia is the famous electronic dance music trio composed of DJs and producers Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso. The group hails from, yes you guessed it right, Stockholm, Sweden.

Still too early to say but possibly the biggest and best dance event of the year :)

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta & Pacto Indonesia at Arya Persian Restaurant

Guests from Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta & Pacto Indonesia were treated to a Halal feast at Arya Persian Restaurant located at the Promenade of Greenhills Shopping Center.

Arya Persian Restaurant is hailed as one of the country's best restaurants. In 2009 Arya was cited by Philippine Tatler as one of the Philippines' best. In 2010 LuxeDining.com also gave Arya the same prestigious citation.

Arya focuses on details in treating guests like Persian royalty. Their rose-scented handwash kept me returning to the Persian-inspired wash area.

Special thanks to Ms. Ann for taking care of our group.
